Lead Generation for Non-competing Verticals
Ingredients
- Connections In Your Community
Directions
- Ask your bosses, or if you’re the boss ask yourself, what connections do I have in the community? Who do I refer business to often? It doesn’t need to be in the same industry as you.
- Make a list and write down their phone numbers and email addresses
- Email, or preferably call if you know them well, and ask for a link. If they have a ‘Friends’ page on their business site, ask to be listed there. If not, ask to leave a testimonial for their business with a link back.

For Email Newsletters you can trust
This is so smart, Joe. There is no reason not to leverage off-line relationships to get links!
One thought, and this is if the ‘Boss’ in your scenario is the one doing the outreach; don’t be afraid to blame your SEO for making you ask for these links! Something like:
“Hey Bob, yea I hired this nerdy SEO guy, and he is telling me to ask you to put a link on your site to mine. I don’t why, but he thinks it’ll help. Thanks, Bob”
